According to the latest figures on foreclosures (for the 3rd quarter in 2006), SC cities did pretty well compared to the 100 largest municipal areas in the country as a whole. While the cities with the top 3 highest foreclosure rates (Detroit, Ft. Lauderdale, and Denver) saw jumps in their foreclosure rates in the 80% - 90% range over earlier quarter figures, two of the three SC cities listed in the report actually saw filings drop in the third quarter.
The cities that were included on the list, and their statistics:
# 71 - Greenville: 0.563 times national average, up 27% over 2nd quarter figures
# 89 - Columbia: 0.266 times national average; down almost 52% from 2nd quarter figures
# 91 - Charleston: 0.25 times the national average; down almost 24% from 2nd quarter figures
Myrtle Beach was not included in the report, which focused on the 100 largest municipal areas in the country (by population).
