Here’s a note from Ira Rheingold from the National Association of Consumer Advocates (of which I’m a member):
As I hope you know, NACA has been spearheading the “Give Me Back My Rights” campaign which is a coalition of consumer, civil, rights and other advocates fighting to end binding mandatory arbitration. On this past Thursday, our campaign reached an important milestone, when Senator Russ Feingold (Wisconsin) and Congressman Hank Johnson (Georgia) introduced the “Arbitration Fairness Act of 2007″, a comprehensive bill which would effectively ban binding mandatory arbitration clauses from all consumer and employee contracts.
While we are excited that the bills were introduced, we now have a hard fight ahead of us and we absolutely need you and your client’s help!! For this bill to build momentum and ultimately become law, we need to educate our Representatives and Senators about the need for this legislation and urge them to not only support, but co-sponsor this bill.
Please just take a few minutes to click and send a message to your representatives. And please pass on the information about our campaign to as many as possible. Only together, and with your active support can we restore access to justice for our clients and for all American consumers.
Thanks for joining in our most important campaign ever. If you have any questions or need more information - please don’t hesitate to contact me. Ira
